Mountain Pose Yoga believes that participation in organized travel can be an important part of one’s learning experience at any stage in life. Travel activities may involve certain risks to participants, Mountain Pose Yoga, and partnering in-country providers. To register for Mountain Pose Yoga’s Costa Rica Retreat, participants must read and sign this International Travel Participation Waiver. Once signed, you will be able to register and pay for the Costa Rica Retreat. The ‘Program” in the waiver below refers to the Costa Rica Retreat hosted by Mountain Pose Yoga of Reno, NV to be held from March 1-10, 2024.

Form to be read and signed by participants:

I wish to participate in the Program, and in consideration of being permitted to participate in the Program, I hereby represent and agree as follows:

  1. I understand that the social, cultural, political, religious, governmental, health care, legal (both civil and criminal) and other systems, as well as the geophysical characteristics, of foreign countries, may be different, in subtle and/or significant ways, from those in the United States. For example, behavior that is considered normal or acceptable in the United States, may be illegal or socially or culturally unacceptable, or offensive outside the United States and may result in penalties, fines, or imprisonment. I understand that police, fire, and other governmental systems may be inadequate by U.S. standards in certain countries, and that the quality and availability of health care may be very different from what is typically available in the United States. Finally, I am aware that certain activities carry increased levels of risk by their nature (for example strenuous physical activity, sea travel, etc.)
  2. I realize that travel outside the United States of America involves a risk of personal injury, death, or property damage. I understand that certain risks are inherent in foreign travel and that I fully accept those risks which may include, but are not limited to, war, quarantine, civil unrest, disobedience or terrorism, public health risks, exposure to communicable diseases, wild and domestic animals, criminal activity such as assault, kidnapping and theft, adverse weather conditions and natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, windstorms and floods, animal attack, insect and animal bites, ill effects of unfamiliar food and water, incidents related to ground, air or water transportation to include motor vehicle collisions and plane crashes, injuries or damage to property, and other physical, mental, and emotional injury. I fully assume personal responsibility for the consequences of the enumerated risks, including the risk of catastrophic injury or death, and all other potential hazards which may arise in connection with my travel abroad, which may result in injury, death, or damage to property.
  3. I have reviewed applicable current travel advisories issued by the U.S. Department of State http://travel.state.gov and the Center for Disease Control http://www.cdc.gov relating to all foreign destinations listed above. I also acknowledge that Mountain Pose Yoga has urged me to consult these advisories again within 24 hours of departure.
  4. I understand that, although Mountain Pose Yoga has made every reasonable effort to assure my safety while participating in the Program, there are unavoidable risks, I understand that Mountain Pose Yoga is not responsible for my safety. I knowingly and voluntarily agree to assume any and all risks associated with participation in the above-described travel opportunity (the “Program”). I also acknowledge that my participation in the Program is optional and that my participation would not have been permitted without this waiver and release. To the maximum extent permitted by law, I release Mountain Pose Yoga, their trustees, officers, faculty, employees, representatives, agents, or anyone accompanying this Program, or their heirs or estates, in their official and individual capacities (collectively, Mountain Pose Yoga) from, and agree not to sue Mountain Pose Yoga for any and all claims and causes of action for loss of or damage to property, bodily or personal injury, loss of companionship or support, or death sustained by me or third parties arising out of any activity or travel associated with my participation in the Program.
  5. I agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Mountain Pose Yoga for any and all losses, expenses, claims, judgments, and liabilities (including attorneys’ fees) of any nature arising out of, or in consequence of, my acts, words, conduct, etc. in connection with the Program including, but not limited to, damage to property, any injuries or death sustained by any person(s) as a result of my actions or inactivity. I further understand that nothing stated herein shall relieve me from my obligation to uphold and support all rules and regulations for participation in the Program, as set forth by Mountain Pose Yoga.
  6. I will comply with Mountain Pose Yoga’s rules, standards, and instructions for participant behavior generally and for the Program. I acknowledge and understand that my compliance is important to the success of the Program and to Mountain Pose Yoga’s willingness to permit future similar activities. I agree that Mountain Pose Yoga has the right to enforce the standards, in its sole judgment, and that it may impose restrictions, up to and including disciplinary proceedings including removing me from the Program, for violating the standards or for any behavior detrimental to or incompatible with the interest, harmony, and welfare of Mountain Pose Yoga, the Program, or other participants.
  7. I understand that it is within Mountain Pose Yoga’s discretion to change travel, accommodations, and other arrangements as it deems necessary. I understand that Mountain Pose Yoga is not responsible for, nor does it represent or act as an agent for, and cannot control the acts or omissions of the host institution or service providers, including those who provide transportation, tour, dining, or sleeping accommodations.
  8. I have no known physical or health-related reasons or problems that preclude or restrict my participation in the Program or I have disclosed to Mountain Pose Yoga any physical, mental, and emotional conditions or problems, permanent or temporary, including special dietary and medication needs, or the need for visual or auditory aids that might impair my ability to participate in the Program, and I hereby release each of the Released Parties from any and all claims, damages, injuries (including death), or loss arising out of my failure to disclose such conditions or problems.
  9. I acknowledge that visiting my care provider so as to receive all required shots, inoculations, and or vaccinations required by the hosting country is my responsibility.
  10. I understand that Mountain Pose Yoga highly recommends, although it does not obligate, participants to obtain their own travel insurance and I acknowledge that Mountain Pose Yoga will not provide travel or any other kind of insurance for me.
  11. I am assuming full financial responsibility for all costs and expenses incurred by me in connection with the Program, including, without limitation, financial responsibility for damage or destruction to property of third parties. This includes additional costs for lodging, transportation, medical care, meals, and any other additional costs incurred should I become sick with COVID-19 or any other illness during the trip and need to postpone or cancel my participation in the scheduled program.
  12. I will not hold myself out as having the power or authority to bind or create liability for Mountain Pose Yoga.
  13. I represent that my agreement to the provisions herein is wholly voluntary, and further understand that, prior to signing this agreement, I have the right to consult with the adviser, counselor, or attorney of my choice.
  14. 16. This Waiver may be executed in counterparts, including facsimile signatures, and all such counterparts shall constitute one agreement, binding upon all parties hereto.
  17. All references to signatures and delivery of documents in this agreement shall be deemed valid and binding if made by means of electronic signature

Nancy Wise Bio

Nancy took her first teacher training in Anusara Yoga in 2003, and the depth and breath of her practice has only grown over 20+ years as an active teacher. A stickler for alignment, Nancy has grown more intuitive in understanding the whole person, based on how her students practice yoga.

Although she honors the yoga tradition, she is open to new poses, ideas, and the ever-changing needs of her students.

Personally, Nancy loves to teach because of a sense of community the peace yoga brings. Nancy is vivacious and energetic, and yoga is the greatest high.

Her classes are energetic, upbeat, and nonstop fun, and her greatest goal for Mountain Pose Yoga is to create and nurture a community of practice where everyone feels welcome.

Gina Bio

My introduction to yoga was in a class for pregnant moms. I was instantly captivated by yoga and its calming, soothing, and strengthening powers.

Since that first transformative yoga class, over twenty-eight years ago, I have been practicing and exploring various forms of yoga and meditation. I am excited and honored to be an instructor at Mountain Pose, where I get to share my love and appreciation of yoga in community.

I lived and worked in Costa Rica for eleven years where I taught Children’s Yoga. A water lover at heart, I earned my Stand Up Paddle Board certification in 2017 after relocating to the Reno-Tahoe area.

I aim to meet you wherever you are in your practice and guide you in a safe and supportive way.
